Morris Legal partner, Georgia Angus, has been named as a “rising star” of the New Zealand legal industry by NZ Lawyer.
NZ Lawyer’s Rising Stars list for 2022 celebrates lawyers under the age of 35 whose outstanding work reflects their ability to become the profession's future leaders. NZ Lawyer considered the nominees' achievements, their responsibilities and recommendations from senior industry professionals. NZ Lawyer noted that the rising stars "have all committed to a career in the legal profession and shown a clear passion for the industry".
Georgia was recognised for her professional achievements, both for Morris Legal's clients and in the trusts and estates industry more generally. In 2021, Georgia became a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and was awarded a 2020 STEP Excellence Award for being the top-scoring student in the world in the Advanced Certificate in Trust Disputes. Georgia has also made considerable contributions to Morris Legal over the past 12 months, being instrumental in the development of a new client onboarding system.
Georgia was promoted to the Morris Legal partnership, effective 1 January 2022. Georgia’s promotion recognises her exceptional performance, leadership and commitment to the firm and its clients. Founding partner, Sally Morris, said “Georgia is an accomplished and committed lawyer and leader. She is exceptionally hard working, high performing and already an expert in the areas of trusts, estates and relationship property. I have no doubt that Georgia will rise to the top of the profession. She is well deserving of this recognition”.
