Separating can be particularly difficult when there are children involved. Issues can also arise years after separation as children’s needs change and their parents’ lives move in different directions. Common issues include how parents will divide care of their children, whether a parent needs supervision, what school a child will attend, what medical treatment a child requires and whether a child will relocate with a parent within New Zealand or overseas.
